The Magic of Monday

Make it a great day or not, the choice is yours.

A simple phrase uttered every morning by my middle school principal over the loudspeakers.  If one phrase stuck with me from those awkward preteen years that would be the one. As it came over the loud speaker we would all roll our eyes, ignore our teachers, and complain about the homework to come.  Now… I see the beauty of this quote.

Stress is a choice, Reactions are a choice, Hating Mondays is a choice… Mondays themselves – not a choice.

So often it is an automatic reaction to dread Monday. We start our workweek counting down to hump-day, then Friday. We spend our time wishing hours and mundane tasks away.

What if we took a new attitude towards Mondays? It’s a fresh start – and there’s nothing quite like a fresh start. It’s an opportunity – you don’t have to go to work, you get to go to work.

Every day is a chance to change your life. You might miss this opportunity since its disguised to you as a dreadful Monday.

It’s the beginning of a new week, anything can happen, you can make of it what you choose. Tomorrow’s a Monday but that’s okay – for me, it’s going to be the start of a great week!

  3. Great Quote! It’s definitely all about perception. I’d rather not spend my days dreading the next. I used to dread Mondays even when I worked as a retail Manager. Even if I worked Sunday, for some reason, I’d still schedule myself off on Mondays… Now I could care less. I love everyday equally :)
